Dustin’s First Alert Forecast: Heavy rain likely through Saturday; Heating up next week - WITN

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for all counties in eastern NC until Midnight Friday.

Expect more clouds and heavier showers/thunderstorms as we go out the rest of the day, as rainfall is forecasted to remain between from 2-4″ inches, with a few isolated higher amounts possible. The best time frame to see the heaviest rain will be from mid afternoon to early evening. Take it slow and easy when driving in any flooded roadway, no matter how powerful any vehicle is. More rain showers will continue into the start of the weekend, as Saturday morning could feature more of pop up and go showers, then rain begins to pick up in the afternoon again before slowing down into the late hours of the day.

Sunday will be the end of the heaviest rainfall, as it will be more isolated to scattered in nature. Amounts looks to be under an 1.00″ for most of the area, but if you see any heavy rain or downpours, locations could pick up more than an inch of rain. Highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s.

As we head into mid month next week, the return of the sweltering humidity and heat makes a comeback, as we will be sunny and dry to start out. By the time we get to mid to later in the week, we remain hot and humid, but a few isolated showers and storms return to the area. This is not looking like any major heavy rainfall forecasted, but the rain we will see will continue to improve our dry conditions across ENC. Highs remain in the mid 90s, then dialing back to the upper 80s by the end of the week. Lows at night remain in the 70s.
