Anti-war Russian TV journalist flees the country - NHK WORLD

A former Russian state TV journalist, who denounced Russia's invasion of Ukraine during a live broadcast, has reportedly escaped house arrest and fled the country.
Russia's state-run news agency reported on Monday that Marina Ovsyannikova had already left the nation.
The agency quoted her lawyer as saying that Ovsyannikova is now under the protection of a European country.
Ovsyannikova was put on the internal ministry's list of fugitives after she went missing.
France's AFP news agency cited the same lawyer as saying that Ovsyannikova and her daughter fled Russia a few hours after leaving her place of house arrest.
The lawyer reportedly said that she is waiting until she can talk publicly. But he said for now it is not safe for her to do so.
Ovsyannikova became known around the world for protesting against the war during a live news program in March. She was working for the state-run broadcaster Channel One at the time.
She continued protesting after she left Channel One. She posted a photo of President Vladimir Putin on social media in July, with a message calling him a murderer.
She was indicted on charges of spreading fake news about the Russian military.
