Line of Duty bosses unsure if season 7 will happen - Digital Spy

Line of Duty spoilers follow.

Line of Duty's future remains up in the air, following its latest series' big reveal.

The BBC series focuses on the Anti-Corruption Unit 12, with the sixth chapter following protagonists DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) and DC Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) as they investigate the team led by Joanne Davidson (Kelly Macdonald).

In the tense season finale, the AC-12 also finally unmask corrupt senior officer H, bringing a storyline spanning across all six series to a close.

Last year, it was revealed that the mystery criminal is none other than DS Ian Buckells (Nigel Boyle).

In a recent chat with RadioTimes.com, the actor shared his hopes for a seventh season after H's identity was revealed. Boyle explained he talked to executive producer Simon Heath for updates on the show's fate with little luck.

"I was chatting to Simon Heath earlier and I was saying, 'Come on, mate. [What's happening?]' And he was like, 'We'd kind of like to, but we don't know if it's going to happen'.

"I said, 'What's the official line?' And he said, 'Well, there isn't one'."

So, no official confirmation as of yet.

Last year, series creator Jed Mercurio shared similar views on whether unmasking Buckells as H represented the end of the show or a way to start anew in another series.

"I'd say it's too soon," Mercurio said.

"It's too soon to draw that conclusion. It could be either of those, or it could be something different."

Line of Duty series 1-6 are available on BBC iPlayer, and DVD and Blu-ray boxsets are also available to buy now.
