Winter storm watch upgraded to ice storm warning for Manistee area - Manistee News Advocate

MANISTEE COUNTY — The National Weather Service has upgraded a winter storm watch to an ice storm warning for portions of Manistee. The ice storm warning will remain in effect until midnight Wednesday.
The warning said there will be significant icing, with snow accumulating up to one inch and ice accumulations of 0.1 inch up to a 0.25 inch. Power outages and tree damage is possible because of the ice. The warning said that "dangerous travel conditions will impact the evening commute."
According to the NWS forecast for this afternoon, "Freezing rain is likely before 5 p.m., then freezing rain likely, possibly mixed with sleet. Cloudy, with a steady temperature around 27 degrees."
There is expected to be a northeast wind of 10 to 15 mph. The chance of precipitation is 70%. Total daytime ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.3 of an inch is possible. However, the forecast said little or no sleet accumulation is expected.
As for Tuesday evening, the forecast said there will be a chance of freezing rain before 8 p.m., then a chance of snow showers and freezing rain between 8 p.m and 11 p.m. There will also be a chance of snow showers after 11 p.m.
After that the expected forecast is cloudy, with a low around 16. The NWS also said it will be "blustery, with a northwest wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph." The chance of precipitation is 50%.
For Wednesday, there is a 40% chance of snow showers. Conditions are expected to be cloudy with a high near 20 degrees. However, the wind chill values will create a "feels like" temperature as low as zero.
There is an expectation of blustery conditions and a north wind of 20 to 25 mph decreasing to 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph, according to NWS seven-day forecast.
